Watched a movie on Netflix last night called 12 Strong. It is the story of the 1st group of operators on the ground in Afghanistan post 9-11. They were partnered with group of local tribesmen that were part of the northern alliance who fought on horseback and despite not being a mounted regimen, they rode borrowed afghan horses and dealt a major blow to Al Quaida and took a stronghold in 3 weeks rather than the 3 months the DOD expected it to take.

Interesting perspective given that we have abandoned Afghanistan. The Afghan General they fought with has a poignant moment calling Afghanistan the graveyard of empires. The US suffered the same fate as every other empire that has attempted to tame Afghanistan

Probably my favorite movie soundtrack of all time. I listen to it while working, evenings on the patio, background music at dinner parties, flying, anytime...classic!

This was in theaters when it first came out, **** good movie. ODA dudes are bad ***.
