Worn out knees no three year old should have knees like that that deer is at least 5 and around 123 ! That looks to be west texas somewhere west of sweetwater I’m guessing just looking at the land and turbines in the back ground!

What are you looking at in those pictures, specifically, that has you assessing some part of the age equation to the knees? I am not being a smartass I have heard that a few times on here but never took that into the equation before. Thanks in advance.

See his front legs look at the knee pads on them see how it has calluses . That is a good sign of a mature deer .

Light colored muzzle, white rings around the eyes, gaunt face, callouses on his knees, round butt... Mature deer. If he's done finishing out, 120's score... Depending on where he is, could finish out around 125.

I am seeing a long face, flat back, somewhat rounded butt and a very healthy, good looking 4 yr old deer. I think the callouses on his knees are just a product of the rocky/rough country. Would be good to be able to compare him to a couple other bucks on your place and compare body sizes and characteristics. He may be older, but I dont think so.

I would guess he’s about 5.5 as well but might let him live on another year. Just depends when I see him in person.
