I saw a lightning bolt hit a flux capacitor in a DeLorean once, sent it Back to the Future.
Glad you and your wife are all OK RattlesnakeDan, that was a close call.
My first close encounter with lightning, was about 25 years ago. A buddy and I were building the engine for his car, out in his pole barn. His wife came out and said we needed to come inside, because there was a storm coming. We looked at her and told her to go back inside.
A few minutes later, I was putting a rocker arm on the right side head. I dropped the rocker and bent over to pick it up. As I did, I saw a blue light shoot up out of the concrete directly in front of my face. I shot up and back, very fast. As I did. the blue light shot up and then as I was getting closer to being up right, I realized there was a blue light coming down from above. Those two blue streaks met, right in front of my face and made a bright blue ball that blinded us for what seemed like a couple of seconds, but was probably a lot quicker than that.
It turns out the lightning that came from above, came down from the chain we had hanging to lift the engine. The pole barn had a frame made out of pipe. We called it done for the night and went in after that.
It seems like after that, I or we became lightning magnets. I have had multiple close calls with lightning and been zapped twice after that.
OK RifleBowPistol, after reading your post here’s the deal. Even after COVID is not around anymore, if I am next to you during a thunderstorm, I believe I will keep a social distance. Glad you and your buddy were OK after that lightning came down the hoist chain, that was a close one for sure.
