    Perfect timing

Got home yesterday and it seemed a little warmer than normal in the house.

Fairly new (2 yo) units inside and out. Already had to have inside coils replaced because of a leak they could not find.
Called AC company right at 5 so the on call guy put us on the list and made it out by about 7

AC guy gets here and pulls panel off inside unit and coils are froze up. Not thrilled but think we still have leak and he can throw some freon in it and figure it out next week.

Freon checks out so back inside and the repair guy says it is some valve that has gone out and not letting freon circulate through coils, only partial flow

Naturally they don't have a valve and will have to order it

Not a fan of American Standard right now since we have had to have repair guy out several times. Hopefully they cover all of it if not most of it, last unit lasted 15 years with less issues

We are having problems this morning too. Air never really got as cool as we like over night and it’s already 80 in side.

    Good luck!

You need to prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-1 oil and some gauze pads.

Seriously, I feel your pain. Hate dealing with issues on new equipment.

Mine went out earlier this week. Long story short they said $1250 to replace blower fan or 5k to replace entire system. I replaced blower fan for $360 and its fine.

Our upstairs unit went out on Friday and my wife is hosting a bridal shower on Sunday so she was in a panic. We had a guy come out this morning and it seems like it was an easy fix.

It's probably the thermostatic expansion valve that went out. Shouldn't be that hard to get if that's what it really is. Pretty common item to have.

Compressor went out on mine yesterday (10 month old unit) due to brown outs. Was told they don't know when they can get me one. Camper living it is.

I know it does not help you but we are planning our home build for retirement.

Ductless mini split systems will be what I go with. That way I have a system for each zone. If I have problems with one I can seal that portion of house off until it is fixed. I have weighed the pros/cons and hope I’m making the right decision

I don't remember what he called the valve but it has about 12 small lines coming off of it and going to various spots on the indoor coil

Just a pain in the butt to go out lat on Friday afternoon so you have to wait days just for a part.

It should be covered since they just put coil in but we will see. I won;t throw a big ol cussing fit if they make me pay but I will sure let the owner of the company know how I feel about it too

Luckily it is around 79 deg in the house right now, not as cool as we are used to but not sweating sitting still either

I have an American standard unit inside and out I put in 2 years ago and it’s great. I did Not replace the furnace and blower motor when I did the condenser and evap and the motor bearing went out causing the mounts and squirrel cage to break. The AC never quit working but $1200 to replace what was broke sucked. The furnace was a Lenox, I should have replaced, but oh well.
