    Wild game

My 4 year old has an autoimmune disease and we are trying a cleaner diet to see if if helps her flares. The doctors have suggested we try avoiding all the additives and such in many store bought meats so we are looking for suggestions for new game to try and places people have had successful meat hunts. We have only had white tail and hogs so far, thanks for any ideas.

What area of the state are you in? We kill very few animals but catch a lot of crappie in the spring. I can help you out with fish cleaned and vac packed if you are near. We would just have to look into what needs to be done to transfer wild game from me to you.

Thank you, I live in Angleton and hunt In Burkeville, if I am ever near there I would certainly take you up on that. Fishing is a great idea, guess it slipped my mind because we dont fish much but its something she can do too! thanks again for the offer and the idea.

Check with Stanton's Meat Market in Alvin. It's a bit of a drive but they usually have several offerings that are wild game based, maybe give them a call and let them know what you're looking for and see what they have.

I know you're asking about meat but additives and preservatives are mostly found in processed foods. I would really pay attention to anything with high carb count. There is alot of things added to that sort of thing IME. I would switch to a whole food approach (only food that is natural state and doesnt have ingredient label like meat, veggies, fruits, etc) and limit it it to as narrow as you can then add 1 thing a week until you find you're sweet spot. My wife has autoimmune disease and unfortunately it can wreak havoc on so many things. Its not the end of the world and most definitely manageable but there are things to watch for. Also always be vigilant about Thyroid disease which is also related to it. My wife had to have hers "killed" with radiation. She went into a medical emergency called a Storm and I thought I was going to lose her. We had no idea what was happening and found out it was her Thyroid that was failing. Watch for hives or rashes as that will be a clue if they are having a reaction to food or something they came into contact with. As for meat I would just stick with lean cuts (even store bought) because impurities are stored in fat. Good luck and don't fret too much. The biggest thing is you know about it and can be vigilant if you see something changing you can link it amd correct it. We didn't really grasp it until she was in her 30's and I started to put all her problems together. All related to autoimmune. I know this sounds heavy but if we would have just known earlier she would have been so much better off so knowing this early is great! Few minor tweaks and you'll probably never even see a difference in lifestyle.

Paleo style helped me. Just as the other poster said, cut out processed foods and stick to whole single ingredient foods. You don’t have to be strictly wild game. Find local butcher that has grass fed beef, natural raised pork and chicken.

All good here Tyler. Sorry to hear about your daughter but hope everything else is good with you and the family.

If you want I can set you up with a little Axis burger meat. It's pretty clean, mixed with 10% beef fat.

Man I hate to hear that about your kiddo

I have a autoimmune disorder and I have to watch my diet pretty strict
I have found if I only eat things that haven’t ever touched a machine I’m okay. For instance if I want apples or something I cut up a whole apple and cook it how I need rather than buying apple pie filling or apple sauce or something. Same with meat I eat mostly wildgame, deer, axis, aoudad, quail, fish I catch but if I want pork or something I go to my butcher he usually has a pig and cow that he owned And butchered for sale in there along with whatever he buys and he feeds natural grains so I have found I can eat a whole plate of pork chops or beef steak with no problem but if I eat it from a Regular grocery store I get sick. Another thing I noticed that foods that I can pick from a tree or are above ground vegetables don’t give me any trouble but below ground such as potatoes, onions, carrots I get very ill. I’m sure y’all have tried a lot but it’s what works for me. A regular dinner will be like blackened fish or grilled meats with squash and a side of beans from my garden and I don’t have any trouble. I have celiac too so bread is out but it’s not a big deal once you figure out your blend

Thank you all for the ideas! its certainly nothing compared to what many people have to go through and I'm glad to still have her. Just want to help her anyway I can, if we do it now and it works it will just be life to her.
                    Thanks a bunch,
