    Pinch point question

How do you locate a pinch point? Or what am I looking for when I look for one ? I usually walk the woods and creeks and find heavy traffic areas

I find them studying maps online mostly.

Classic example - outside creek bend pinching into a fenced field corner

Anything that tends to narrow down the path of the deer. Food plot on one side, county road on opposite side - forces deer into a narrow area. could be a fence, creek, river, field, pasture, lake, etc... you should find more trails and sign in this area than other areas because more traffic.

          Gates
          Low spots in fence
          Creek crossings
Where a large wooded area narrows before opening up
          BETWEEN TWO BODIES OF WATER!!!!
          Ends of fallen trees

If you can freely walk the woods... it ain’t one
If your walking and are without extra effort “forced” into an area... you found one!

Look for paths of least resistance, they may be on elevation changes or they may not be. Keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks like a natural funnel, put some cameras up and scout it if possible, but if it’s used with any frequency it should be fairly obvious.

Thanks fellas. I posted this in a thread a while back. Here is the 60 acres I hunt on our family farm. Blue lines are creeks, grey lines road. Plan on after season to really walk it.
