My first opener was an eye opening experience. Glad I had an experienced guy with us. In flight duck ID is harder than some of y'all make it look. Teal are easy, others not so much.
Lost one Saturday, to either reeds or the local gator. Saw it fold up and crash hard. Went to pick him up after working a couple more groups and it was gone. Couldn't find it after 15 minutes of looking. Finished with 5.
Sunday was a slower day but still squeezed out a limit by adding a spoony (or 2 lol) to the count.
Didn't take many pics cause I was too busy learning how to call and absorbing some knowledge from the older dudes.

Awesome report. Identifying them while flying will come with time.
Made it Sunday and we finished with 15 between 4 of us so not terrible. Add in the fact we should’ve taken a group of pin tails on a Passover but we got greedy thinking they were going to get closer plus when I was picking up decoys a group of 40 teal tried coming in. Those two opportunities could’ve been a game changer and had us close to limits.
Went against what I have always done hunting the marsh in temps like we had this past weekend and hunted a dog. Hunted my new yellow pup. I was very pleased with how he did for his first hunt. He held steady and marked birds very well. Only sent him on birds that fell in the decoys. Hunted knee deep marsh in Labelle. Teal as thick as the mosquitoes were and were out of the marsh by 7am with our 3 limits.

Congrats on the hunts & THANKs for the great pics!
Hunted the coast east of Houston Sat & Sun. Not alot of birds for opener. We had 10 & 9 for 2 of us & that was with good shooting, Sat we let nothing get out that came in. Sun even fewer birds seen. Hunted this AM on a little pond in Garwood. Fogged in till 9 oclock. Saw very little ,but did get 3. Drove around after that & saw pretty poor numbers on flats around.
Hunted hard this weekend had a 5 man Saturday and a 3 man Sunday could had a 5 Sunday if the people would have got outta bed! I’ll post the pics if someone pms me
Hunted in the bay this weekend and Saturday was a bit of a zoo. We could see 9 boats from where we were set up at but luckily everyone was spread out a good bit. Took a couple new hunters out. Absolutely silly amount of redheads and pintails in the bay. More than I recall seeing this early in a long time.
Managed our redheads Saturday morning. Had a few groups of pintails try to work but with so much shooting all around they ended up making fast tracks somewhere else. Lots of sky busting. Sunday morning same spot but fog banks were thick and we couldn't see much. I ended up with these 4 while everyone else was dozing off. Shots happened quick.
New guy was asking a ton of questions about the spread and decoys and hiding and setups. He's going to buy a new shotgun this week after watching his rust. Lol. Got a new one hooked and shot a few birds. Fun weekend.
