    Electrical Work Help

Need help with recommendations for extending electric from the road to deer lease camp. The distance is 600 feet. If you know anyone in the Lumberton, Kountze, Beaumont area that does this kind of work, please let me know.

Also looking for information on cost, what is involved, and as many details for that kind of job so I can be informed if I find someone to do it. I have talked with local electric provider and the construction tech and have that info but having issues finding qualified person in that area to this kind of job.

    Thanks for your input.

cost to run the line will vary depending on who does the work and what size conduit/feeder cable you run. (i just completed around 115 foot run for $590 via local utility company to serve a 200 amp panel - a very cheap job @ roughly 5.15 per foot)

you will likely only need 50-100 amp, but longer run may require size up on cable.

5-6 bucks per foot would be a great price imo.

For a run that far you are going to want the electric company to bring their lines in as far as possible.

You will pay a lot more if you set the meter at the gate than you will paying the electric company. Plus you will have to upsize the wire so much for voltage drop that your panel and breakers may not be compatible with the wire size needed.

Typically with utilities you’re responsible for line maintenance after the meter so if you have them set the meter as close as a possible to your camp it may save you in the long run.

Like others are telling you....you'll want to pay the co-op to run that overhead to a pole/meter near your camp. It aint cheap but will be cheaper than a contractor.

600ft is a long ways to run secondary to serve a house or camp. You could probably get by for a 30 amp rv hookup going that far with bigger wire but like others have stated I would try to get the coop to run it closer. They usually have some type of extension policy of so many feet or poles before any cost.
You get it down to 200 or max 300ft past the meter it would be more doable.
I would look at paying the coop to go farther vs hiring electrical contractor to run it past the meter several hundred feet. See which option is cheaper.

Main problem is the electric coop needs easement if they run the line to my camp from the road. That would entail the timber company charging me for timber loss, IF they would allow it (haven't asked about easement, just if I could put electric on site). My only option that I can see at this point is to have meter connected next to closest pole on the street (40 feet from entrance) and then have a contractor run line to camp. What I really need to know is what that would entail if someone that is a licensed electrician can explain or find someone in this area that does this kind of work.
