    A/C Question..

In my last house, the master bedroom was the warmest in the house.. well, my new house is the same. Seems like the master bedroom is a constant 3-5* warmer than the rest of the house. If I were to put the thermostat where my room was a bit cooler, the rest of the house would be freezing.

Any ideas how to correct this without re routing ducts and basically a complete attic ac overhaul?

    Thanks!

Any dampers on the other ducts you can close?

Poor duct design is likely the culprit. But the easiest option is to damper down less occupied spaces.

Figured closing the dampers would help a bit.. just a hassle to open/close them when it's my weekends to have my kiddos

Your registers need to be balanced.

I have the same problem in my house. Closing the vents in the front rooms help a little, but sure doesn't even out the air.

What's with this problem? I have the same issue. I think it's because of the larger bathroom and walk in closet that doesn't get enough air and warms things up.

Do you have a central return?

If so, there’s nothing you can do

I have the same issue. Back guest rooms are freezing and our big master bedroom has 1 small duct to it, makes no sense. I run around in tank tops and shorts and my in laws and family come over and wear jackets. lol

Same here, master is on the west side of house. It gets full afternoon sun. Got a box fan, pedestal fan and ceiling fan going at the same time.

Our master bedroom is the longest away from the thermostat. When we were having it built I was going to have it zoned with a separate thermostat for the master bedroom. Instead they recommended a sensor be installed in our master bedroom with it hooked up to the thermostat. So basically we have dual sensors on our thermostat to manage your problem mentioned. In our case problem solved.
Now in one of our houses that was a two story it had zoned ac with a separate thermostat for just our bedroom.

I cut in an additional duct for the master. Just a small one and its nice and cool now. I do have a single story with the return pulling from one end of the house. Prior to the work, it was almost like the ducts where over pressurized. Seems to have really balanced the sytem out for mine.

My last house was zoned, which was awesome. New house had the same problem you have when we moved in, so I just installed a mini split in my master bedroom. Now when we go to bed the master is 68 and the rest of the house is 78.

When we built our house 3 years ago I had them run 2 vents/ducts into the master. It is always colder that the thermostat. I remodeled our other house and had new ducts put in. They ran a larger duct for the master and is was great.

I put a small window unit in mine years ago..never saw it on my elect bill..Rooms cooler and drier and just enough background noise to drown out noise...I've used 5k io 8k......Of course location can be problem..Unsightly spot! but mines in back yard and I never see tell I am mowing..
