    Zero Turn mower grass catcher?

I mow 3 acres of mostly San Augustine grass wit a 54” Kubota zero turn mower. We get an awfull lot of bunched up clippings all over the yard no matter how often we mow. I don’t want to spend $1000+ on a vacuum for it but would be interested in a grass catcher. I saw 1-3 bag models from Cub Cadet for $500-$700. That’s a lot of money for yard clippings but we have A LOT. Anyone know if these will work on mu Kubota Kommander Z125S? I know there is a Kubota model for smaller Zero turn mowers, but they get stupid high on their pricing simply because it’s painted orange. I’m not stuck on any brand.

Are you using a mulching kit?

THe bad thing about a grass catcher on 3 acres is that you will be constantly dumping it.

I use a lawn sweeper. When my SA gets thick, I will kind of windrow it with the mower, and come back and pick it up with my sweeper. So much easier to drive around pulling the sweeper in my buggy than to do it manually.

You will be disappointed trying to collect all the clippings. You will have to stop 12-15 times to empty that joker, maybe more. Then you end up with a mountain of clippings.

Trade that Kubota in on a scag with the velocity deck or a Deere with the 7iron deck

Mulching kit for mine eliminated any clipping buildup.

I’ll probab get a Scag or Ferris next time. But, this is only four years old and I just paid it off. I need a new “used” F-250 before a new mower.

Can you tie or bungee the chute up? I do this on my Z turn and pushes the grass out farther and no build up on lawn.

You can also let the clippings dry out then spread them with your blower.

I've done most of the above, just short of buying a new mower and the lawn sweeper is what works the best. I don't know why but my mower started doing this a couple of years ago.

Check under the deck to make sure you don not have a bunch of dried up grass there. If you mow when there is dew on the grass, you can get quite a bit of build up under the deck.
