    Grand Prairie fire

Looks like a giant carbon footprint

They are expecting that sucker to burn for 2 days. The planes on approach to DFW from the south are getting a good view of everything!

excuse my ignorance, but why do you say there is no real way to put it out?

According to this article they believe a power line fell onto a storage building and started the fire. They also reported a rail car exploded at some point.

A downed power line sparked a massive fire at a factory that makes garbage bags and other plastic materials in Grand Prairie, Texas early Wednesday morning.

I’m guessing it’s like a tire fire, water really won’t touch it need foam or dirt to smoother it.

They brought in an engine from DFW Airport FD to lay foam down earlier. At this point I'm sure they are just trying to keep it contained and let it burn out.

Fuel load is just to large.
Technically every fire could be put out but some need much more water, foam and resources than can be put together

                    Don’t doubt us!
We (DFW Airport) have 2 crash trucks there right now with plenty of water and foam that are putting out 1200 gallons a minutes from each truck (the big yellow ones). Been at it for a few hours straight and almost got it licked. Have a good 5” supply line and foam trailer keep us reserviced. They have even brought in fuel trucks to keep us running. 75 gallon tank has been filled 3 times already.
Our department got called in around midnight but didn’t start applying agent til this morning while they made a plan of attack.

Glad to know we have a TBH'er at DFW. Which station do you work out of?

My office is at 635 and Royal and we live just east of the airport in Las Colinas. Our kids enjoy watching everyone train at the facilities off Airfield as well as seeing the trucks!

Does DFW run OshKosh or Rosenbauer ARFF trucks? I know either way, they're pretty much hot rods and can do some damage.

Here's one I got to drive a while back. It's as big as a dump truck, but can do about 70 and is a nimble mamma jamma.
