Terrible time to build a garage gym

With everything going on my pregnant wife isn’t comfortable with either of us at the local gym. Been looking online all week and it’s still as bad as a couple weeks ago. Nothing in stock and used stuff is selling for as much if not more than new!

If anyone knows where bumper plates and an olympic bar are in stock let me know. Really regretting selling my kettlebells on here last year

Have you looked at Titan Fitness? Great prices and fast shipping.

This doesn't apply to your scenario, but something I saw and was semi-impressed with was Tonal... Home gym that is driven by mechanical gears, so it's something you install on a wall, sticks out no more than 3-4 inches from what I see on their site, and you get up to 200 lbs of resistance. No weights or dumbbells. Really neat looking. I say semi-impressed because it would have been neat if they could go up higher in weights for squats.

How about making your own? Concrete in various size buckets; steel pipe with caps to prevent slippage at ends; could make handles for the buckets to hang on the pipe ends out of ratchet strap material. Probably make your own complete set-up for under $50.

I thought about this as well.

If you can't get your hands on weights, improvise and use stuff around the house/garage. I have all my weights but do a bunch of body weight workouts which is plenty good. Just youtube bodyweight workouts and you are good to go.

Anything gym/workout related disappeared within 72 hrs of gyms closing since March.

Always seeing people claiming they found stuff and ordered it just to have to wait 6-8 more weeks.

                  It’s pretty crazy.

Thanks all. Not worried about body weight exercises and all that. Already do those and have a decent amount of dumbbells still so have plenty to use. Just want to get more and get a complete set up in the garage. Was hoping that enough people bought early and stock would be back or people would unloaded unwanted equipment now that gyms are open

Not sure where your located but check out (Houston) Bolt Fitness. Have good prices and good quality. Last I heard they were still trying to stay stocked and not jacking up prices.

Yeah the secondary market is stupid right now and no way I’m paying what people are asking. I’m on a couple backorder lists Hopefully something will come in stock. Until then what I have will work, crazy that people are lying 2-3x retail
