    What is this?

This has been in the floor for years. Anyone know what it is?

What do those markings say on it? Any on the other side?

Antique crab measuring tool. You see them using them on Deadliest Catch.

The picture shows them about as good as you can see in person. I didn't get a pic of the other side but I can on Monday.

Its pretty heavy. Maybe around 10lbs or so.

                  Define "in the floor"

If house is pier and beam, maybe something used when they move them (if it has been moved)

If I'm not mistaken that is a temporary chain clamp, (prolly not the right word)!
If you make a loop mid chain, throw that loop over a tie post, you'd hook each side of that clamp into the part of the chain going to each end. Never seen one quite like that or that big. Think of it as a double hook for adjusting chains that us mere mortals use.

                      Some sort of counter weight.

No its a slab. Maybe I should have said laying on the floor in the gym.

Maybe this is correct. There is a big piece of chain outside and the links are 18-24"
