I bought one of the ASF from Bucees this fall. It is well built and holds up the hogs pretty well. The timer works fine but I'm not a fan of the solar panel. I tried to set my feeder so it had the most hours of sun on the solar panel as possible but it was not able to keep the battery fully charged. After about 4 months the battery was dead. Might have been a battery issue, not sure but the flat solar panel makes me question how much sun it is capturing.

Performance wise I am not all that happy with how well it throws corn. I am only getting about 15-20 foot radius at the most. I reached out to ASF a couple of times to ask about adjustments but never was able to actually speak to anyone and they never returned any emails. Now that the season is over I think I will drag it back to camp and play with adjustments to see if I can get the dispersion pattern in the 30-40 foot range.

Would I buy one again? Maybe.
Tx_Kevin bought one of the 700# feeders from Academy and while is does cost more than the ASF from Bucees it is a hoss and works very well.

On the ASF timer there is a low, med and high speed setting when you are setting the times... It allows you to set it after you have set the time and the duration for each feeding. There is a speed setting per time-setting.

No issues with my solar here. I have it facing south so it maximizes the low sun in the winter months.... technically 12 volts can put out 14v when its cloudy though. May be a bad solar or connection.

Yea, mine all throw the corn dang near out the feeder pen and they're 25 yards diameter, so right at 40 feet. With the spin speed on high (AND a good battery), I get good coverage all over the round pens. My solar panel has done a good job keeping my batteries up too. They are all facing as due south as I can get them to maximize sun exposure hours.

My solar panel quit and battery died after 2 seasons. I looked and the panel has water between the plastic and the cells. It's probably got a half tube of silicone around it so it was probably cracked by the hogs.
Even with full battery and timer set to high, I'm not impressed with the throw radius either. BUT...still a good feeder and worth the $400.

Smart, do you think they could get in on all four sides or just those 2 because of the cross member bracing for them to sit on? Just curious as I was looking at these as well.

            Thanks,

I'm betting if you could strap the legs to on top of cinder blocks it would extend the throw radius and still be stand and fillable.

It would raise the solar panel too. Mine died with a crack in it, pretty sure a pig smacked it after he or his posse member received a lead injection.

                Thanks,

They get in all 4. I have it on all 4 and they try. Not worth the risk to save a few bucks and some labor

They scrape the few pieces left on the "plates" after the spin but with the bottom plate lengthening mods they can't get to the spinner. I watch it every night with my Covert camera and the corn levels are dropping at a constant rate associated with a normal spin.....not like that of a group of 3-5(or more) coons spinning it all night.

This just shows two sides but I did all 4.

Dang that’s a great idea. Sure wish I would have seen this before I put mine out. I’ve got a whole raccoon community Camped at mine every night.

                    Buccees feeders?

Let em empty it and get r done. Home Depot has pieces already cut to length and width that are perfect for it. I think I have $30 ish dollars in flat steel, spray paint and bolts/nuts/washers. It’s a quick easy project.

Yes sir, I have it set to HIGH for 8 sec for both AM & PM spins. The solar panel in pointing south-southwest. The new battery I installed on 12/26 showed 5 bars when installed. It showed 4 bars yesterday. I think the solar panel is working, just not 100%.

It will make it to the end of our lease. I can swap the solar and adjust the spinner before taking it back out. Might even add those plate extenders you showed. Heck of a idea.

Thats not a bad idea. Of course I just filled it to the brim so I'll give it a shot in a couple months!
