    DANG that’s a nice ride!

Might be smarter to leave original but I would have a 6 speed in that thing so fast your head would spin, preferably manual.

Oh, and 10 to 12 mpg running empty. 4 to 6 pulling 20,000 or so
I bought a 1991 Chevy 3/4 ton with a 454 in 1993. I never got 11 mpg running empty, but I liked the hp and would let those ponies run most of the time. Dad owned a muffler shop, so I put 2.5" pipe from the headers back with 18" glass packs and megaphones on it.

Never saw one get that empty mileage, loaded and empty were much closer together!

[emoji6] if the auto stays add headers for power, if going std then leave the manifolds so that ***** will sing between gears and downshifting.

If he's going off of his '95, it had OD and probably 3.73s and may have got close at 65. I guarantee you that rig won't do it with that Turbo 400, and 4.10s.

But who gives a turkey, that thing is BAD ***!

One simply does not drive a 454 looking for mpg’s.

My mom, who is 5’3”, had a ‘97 3/4 ton 4wd suburban with the big block.[emoji23] They weren’t fast in the 90’s, but that vortec inducted one would **** sure pull!

Question, I thought 1988 was the start of the newer body style in gmc/chevy. My dad has an 88 chevy 3/4 ton and is the newer body. Totally different grill and truck lines. This looks like a pre 88 version. Or did they not make the 4 door newer body until later? His 88 is the extended cab
