Savage axis help??

I just purchased a savage Axis from Walmart, I just found out as i tried taking a shot with it that the bolt doesn't close all the way. Should I just call Savage or is it an something that could be easily fixed?

Does it have a scope on it? Sometimes the mounting screws are too long and stick through the receiver. A friend bought a ruger with factory mounted scope that had this problem.

try different shell. somtimes the chamber is tight, some shells are longer.

The base mount bolts is also another good areas to look

^^^^^This was the problem. I put the long screws in the wrong place. Once I switch screw positions all is good.
