The differences between Cur dog breeds

What are some of the differences in the Cur dog breeds like size, nose, temper, type of work they do best? Or are they all pretty much the same?

    The Black Mouth Cur?

    The Mountain Cur?

    The Catahoula Cur?

    any other Cur breeds?

Here is a pictuire of my BMC, Lucy. She is a varmint killing machine around the house. I do not use her for hogs.

looks like to me that you might have a mt. cur x bmc.
my old bmc was very protective and "jealous" over me. When she was next to me she didnt want any other dog or cat around me. It took a few times but she got over that. over all she was a good dog.

Lucy is a great dog and she is 11 years old. She might not be 100% BMC. I got her off a ranch in East Texas as a puppy and the guy raised them for cattle and hog hunting.

She has never liked guns but leave her to herself and she will kill anything that comes into the yard excpect another dog or a person.

My next Cur I want to use for Squirrel hunting and blood trailing.

        Joey,

I guess the title should have had a "what" in it.

I have found that its not the breed that makes the difference, but the line of dogs that you get your stock from. I am partial to catahoulas, but have hunted with just about every kind of cur at one time or another. As long as the dog will not open on the track they work for me.

Your dog does look more like a mountain curr than a BMC.

Your dog almost looks like it might have a little feist in it also.

Check out this link. It has a short overview, then near the bottom of the page are links to the various types.

There is also a short line about feists.

Is a Blue Lacy considered a type of Cur dog?

In my opinion yes. Don't know what the official ruling is. Back in college I once crossed a blue lacy with one of my catahoulas. Most pups looked just like lacy's and a few looked just like catahoulas.
