So I need to transfer the title for a car I inherited. It is currently titled/registered out of state.

Is the tax office taking appointments for these types of transactions? Anyone done one of these recently under the current covid lockdown?

Get online and check your county. It varies county by county.

A lot of used car lots hire title transfer folks to deal with the mess that is brought on by buying cars at auction. They get all kinds of goofy titles. It's easier to use someone that deals with it every day.

Man, I bought a Jeep a few months ago and haven't been able to transfer the title because the tax office has been closed and you can't do it online or by mail. They also said the police will not ticket you for it, but I can't get the registration sticker. Maybe I will also look into a private title transfer company. Any idea on how much they charge?

In Harris county I just finished mailing all my stuff in to Ann Harris tax of I believe. Don’t quote me though, but I did mail it in

If I can do that I will. I sent them an email explaining my situation to see if I can get an appointment. We shall see. I waited on hold for over an hour then gave up.
