    Feed pens in East Tx

How many panels and T posts will make one pen, referring to about the size you guys make them that work. I've got big hogs hammering all the places I dump my hand corn and then they move over to the feeders and clean that up as well.

How many panels and what height are they and about how big of circle are they?

The bigger the better. 6 makes a nice one to start out with. And it's the 34 inch tall with the smaller holes at the bottom i believe.
Depending on the soil, 3 post per panel usually does it. 1 on the ends and 1 in the middle. Wire them on the outside of the post.

Exactly what I'm looking for. You get yours at TSC?

You can get lucky and find them here or on Craigslist sometimes. Save a few dollars. I found some on 2cool and I bought some from the supply store

I also bought the shorter Tpost. So they set pretty much flush with the pen. Maybe stuck up 6 inches or so.

Hog panels are the 34” tall panels with smaller wholes at the bottom. If you aren’t as worried about the smallest piglets getting in the pen, you can buy the 50” cattle panels and cut them in half to get two 25” panels. T posts on the end of each panel will work.

I used six 50” panels from tractor supply cut in half for a total of 12 panels. One t post at each end and one in the middle.

I have 8 hog panels & around 24 t post at one spot, and 6 hog panels & around 18 t post at another. It took a few days for the deer to get used to them and hogs quit coming around.

It’s a lot cheaper to buy the big ones and cut them in half. You can build the pen much larger for the money.

You will get a hog one or twice a year in the pen still maybe. I’ve had it happen with hog panels too.

i have a 14 panel pen with cattle panels. in 2 places i cut out a section near the bottom for fawns to get in that i can wire closed when not needed. I've found out though that if i leave them open and the smaller pigs start getting in that they are easy to catch with a snare at the opening.

I did 6-52" panels cut in half, didn't slow the deer down and have only had a couple large boars get in over the past 2 years. Also I cut mine in the middle of a square so you end up with 2-3" spikes on one side of each panel, push that into the ground and makes it even harder for pigs to try to push in.

My worry is that when the pig got in, but they couldn’t get out. Lol

I just put up 2 sets. 8 hog panels. Been 1 week and still waiting on deer to jump in. The hogs took over the area.

Pigs are waaay harder to keep in than fence out

Made mine with cattle panels the way GarGuy suggested in his hunting pressured East Texas deer thread. They are cut in half, down the center making the wire 24” high. So far the big boar hogs have just given up and left and the fawns are able to jump over it. The feeder pen is 24 half cut panels in a circle with a post on each end and 1 in the center. This is my first year using it but it looks like it going to be well worth the money and time spent. I hate hogs !!!
