    1911 for concealed carry?

I have been carrying a .38 lcr for everyday and it is great. Lately been thinking about buying something a little lighter and smaller out of confidence. I love the 1911 platform but didnt know if their smaller models are similiar to something like a shield or ruger lc9 etc?

I am thinking I am going to go back to 9mm. Any opinions?

I literally would want the smallest and lightest that holds 7-8 rounds

    Any advice is appreciated.

When I am wearing loose fishing shirts or if it is winter, I carry my 4" 1911. When it's summer or my attire makes it a little harder to conceal, I carry a little Sig P238. I personally am a big 1911 platform fan and don't care for striker fire weapons. That's just me. I carry every day, everywhere.

I have an old Kimber Pro Carry II that I bought about 13 years ago.

Sig P938. Single action, ambi safety, like a mini 1911 without the grip safety. Holds 7+1 of 9mm. The one I carry is a sweet shooter. If you want a small 1911 like gun, you can't get much smaller.

I agree that this is a great option for a 1911 lover. I went with the slightly smaller P238 with extended mag for extra grip but wish I would have bought the 9mm instead. Both are very good shooters.

I second the P938. I'm a 1911 guy also and it's very similar. I also have a green Lasermax on mine for my old eyes. It's a great set up for me. Good lock.

I have a colt defender and thought about carrying then realized really quick how heavy it is. I just stick with my Glock 26, 19 or 42 for the most part.

I carry my 1911s occasionally when I’m feeling nostalgic. My primary carry these days weighs half as much and carry twice The ammo.

A Springfield Champion or EMP would be a solid choice as well, I used to carry a champion and had no complaints

I carried a springfield EMP (9MM 3" barrel) for a while. You just can't escape the weight and bulk if you are going IWB. If you have a way to conceal and carry OWB, I'd look at the 4" contour carry or one of the bobtailed 4" 1911s.

I will say my little EMP was remarkably accurate and ate everything I fed it. Very little recoil due to mass, but, in the end, it's just too much in the texas heat.

I ended up with a "pocket" 1911 - the springfield 911. It's not a true 1911 but it has essentially the same manual of arms and fits in a front pocket...

Not a fan of single action for carry. If you are looking for 9mm that is small go shoot a few. Shield, Kahr, and do yourself a favor and shoot a Glock 43. Don't have one but will.

My Sig C3 1911 is easy to CC. It fits flat and tight to my side and doesn't print hardly at all under a t shirt. It is no more noticeable than my Bersa 380.
If I am pocket carrying I have the Sig P238.

I carry my RO Compact 1911 9mm frequently.

My favorite carry is my Springfield 911 in 9mm though.

You should check those out if you want a 1911 type gun (it doesn't have a beavertail safety). It's an awesome little guy.
