If you were fishing the bay next week......how would you fish

Sounds like lots of folks fishing regardless of the conditions. If you were fishing dealing with a bad wind, muddy water and freshwater what would be your strategy to grind out a few trout, reds and flounder.

Dark dark color soft plastics. Prefer quicker water. Structure obviously. Work birds if possible as trout will be close to the surface and eager.

Will the fresh water and salt water still stratify? Or will the wind by next week mix it up plenty

Where you fishing? They will stack up somewhere. Closer to a pass to the gulf.

Saltwater will sink below the freshwater, so even if the top of the water is fresh, it may be salty closer to the bottom.

Fish where the tidal surge is leaving the marsh.

Oh we didn’t get that much rain here. I haven’t rode over Caney but I wouldn’t imagine it’s up and flowing. Either way, the west side of the bay tends to stay saltier if we get a bunch of rain. It flows out of Mitchell’s cut on the east side from Live Oak Bayou and Caney. Doesn’t really affect the western side of the bay. It’s probably going to fish like you normally would. Any high water we had is from an elevated tide and not freshwater.

Not very effected at all. No major run off to speak of. We got big tides and that is about it. The SW winds may be your issue. Just fish it like you'd fish it with a SW wind any other time. The fish were where they are supposed to be as of friday. We had a great morning friday and caught lots of fish. Some of my buddies did well on redfish today. I think tomorrow we will be back on trout again.

Everytime we get a storm everyone thinks the wheels are going to fall off and the fishing will be terrible. It is EXTREMELY rare to get enough runoff to effect much of EMB. Even with some runoff coming in from the north the majority of the bay will be very salty. The week after Harvey when we had the biggest flood event any of us can remember we absolutely wore the trout out in EMB.

Break out your corks and shrimp or corks and gulp and get to drifting. Or go wade the south shoreline. Play the wind like you always would. Find good water and bait and go to work.

Wait, on second thought it is going to really suck. We got like inches of rain and 30 mph wind. I think EMB is done for the year. I don't think we will possibly recover before at least say Nov of 2021. I hear Galveston is popping though.

Yeah better listen to Glenn. Hardly anything left in East Matty. West bay is still good and Galveston is on fire.

You are right the wind will be the biggest factor.

And the rain, reports for next week. Been fishing at matty since the mid 90s not long as some, but that new bridge let more folks on the island than any fishing report did. Make them wait on the swing bridge and they would go to Galveston

With the current conditions would you rather fish a rising or a falling tide?
