City to Activate Emergency Operations Center
    PUBLIC SAFETY / CITY NEWS
    City Urges Preparation and Caution
    JULY 24, 2020
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The City of Corpus Christi Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activated Friday, July 24 at 8:00 p.m. to monitor Tropical Storm Hanna.

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rains and high winds throughout Nueces County for the next couple of days. High-water vehicles and barricades are on stand-by if needed.

City staff is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. The EOC team is urging citizens to take the following precautions:

Pick up any loose items around your yard or property. These items could present hazards during high winds.
If you live in a flood-prone area, monitor the situation and be prepared to take appropriate action if necessary.
Monitor local news for frequent updates regarding the tropical activity and any rains or high winds the area may experience.
Additional updates will be released as necessary.

The City of Corpus Christi has a variety of resources and information for storm preparations at https://www.cctexas.com/beready. Residents can also get updates on city social channels, Facebook @citygov and Twitter cityofcc.

I boarded up a few of the storm side windows just in case. Had to tie down the open fence, and talked the neighbor into flipping the trampoline over and putting some heavy beams on it to prevent it from flying. Think we’ll get a little wind, and hopefully not a lot of rain.

Saw that AEP has already started sending resources to the area so hopefully they’ll be able to keep the power on and not have too many problems.

I live in Portland. Winds are supposed to be 30-40, with higher gust, and rain. Winds have picked up already and we’re getting rain bands.

All quiet here in Calallen. A little wind and a couple bands have blown through. Got the generator on stand by just in case.

My buddy is the superintendent of the Corpus Christi golf club. He has only been there a few years and the members ( jokingly ) told his yesterday that he needs to leave. Since he has been there this makes the second hurricane, snow storm, drought, and floods.

It looked nice yesterday. Saw someone almost loose a dog out there this morning on that cam.
