    Antique value?

I inherited a Winchester Model 1897, stainless steel, 12 guage, pump shotgun. Does anyone have an idea of what it's worth? thanks

I would suggest Gun broker, Antiques are only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for them.

It does have an external hammer and the barrel is Full choke. I have not measured the barrel but it looks to be 30-32" long. I used it as a kid for those "altitude" shots on geese. ****, that was 40+ years ago.

If it has a 32" barrels, full choke and a factory sleeve....I would be interested in takin it off your hands, if the need ever arises.

I used one like that for turkey shoots in North Carolina. Won....almost ever time I pulled the trigger. (You probably wouldnt believe that ifin ya ever seen me dove hunt)

Had folks.....professional turkey shoot..shooters.......offer alotta money for it!

I bought one last year from a pawn shop for $350. Winchester Model 1897, stainless steel, 12 guage, pump, full choke with the hammer. Someone had put on a rubber butt pad on it which I figured decreased its value. Took the butt of and found an old metal plate like it should of had and put it on. Ill post some pics when i make it home tonight.

I have a buddy that has one of those. I found a site that you could find out when it was made based on serial number, his was made in 1908. I'll see if I can find that site again.

I don't want to sell it.It was my grandfathers. I just wanted to get a ballpark figure for insurance purposes. I'll get the serial # tonight and maybe someone can look it up. My computer here at school blocks the site. And thanks for all your input.

But Stainless steel? are you sure it's just had no bluing on the barrel anymore? I got a '97 and it looks stainless steel but it's from just use. AP Look at SASS sites there are Chinese reproductions and US repros of the '97 being made for dirt cheap.

Ours was made in 1914. Its amazing that a gun made that long ago can still shoot good!!! Mine is blued steel.
