Identity theft advice needed from the green screen

My wife has had her identity stolen multiple times and it sucks. She now has over $10,000 on her credit from the identity thief. My wife managed to find out her name, phone number, address in cypress etc. My wife is going to file a police report and attempt to clear up the credit issue.

What else can be done?

I have experience here...unfortunately. Put a fraud alert on your credit and ....freeze your credit (you have to be notified before any new credit is acquired.)

I had someone spending money while i was on the phone with the credit card company and filed a report with the Sheriff's office and they basically told me it wasn't something they were going to pursue.

Seems to be a pretty safe life of crime, if you can't even get law enforcement to investigate it.

These days, probably not much. BUT...definitely file a report.
