Mammoth Gopher Tortoise

We just moved in two evenings ago. 25 acres on the SHNF. Figured Id share our welcome from the neighborhood. Threatened species I thought was gone from TX. For scale Im 15 ft away. Im 6ft 4. 250lbs.

Kinda hard to tell from the pick, but I dont think gopher tortoises come this far east, it not a texas tortoise.

I wonder if someone's salcata tortoise got out.
