    New F-250 Tremor

Have had a lot of questions about my new truck so figured I’d share a few things. This is my first super duty, coming from a Raptor. The raptor was ok for going out to the ranch, but seriously lacked in payload and towing ability. The tremor is not a raptor, but the 35” tires, 2” lift, 4.30 rear end, and tuned suspension is a nice upgrade over a regular FX4. I went with the 7.3L as most reports suggested the decreased weight was an asset off-road and the engine is more than capable of towing 15k lbs as many reviews have shown. I highly doubt I’ll ever tow over 12k lbs, although the diesel is NICE it’s not needed for me. With almost 3k of payload capacity, this truck should serve my needs well.

Now for what everyone wants to know. How is the MPG.

The tremor package knocks MPG down to 13ish, a lariat without the tremor package is reportedly getting 16-17mpg. Diesel Tremors are getting 16-17mpg for comparison.

    Any other questions just ask!

I did A LOT of shopping. The tremor package is about a $4k option. Lightly optioned XLTs can be had for low 50s, add the diesel with all the options and the goes up to low $60s. Lariat with the 7.3 low $60s, high $60s to low $70s with the diesel and all options.

So what’s killing the Lariat/Tremor vs the Lariat/No Tremor MPGs? 4.30 and 35”s?

I didn't even know there was such a package, I like the concept though. You will have to let us know how it pulls.

I have a diesel Lariat with the Tremor package. I think it looks much better with the decals removed but that may just be me. They pull off easily when new. I didn't calculate mileage myself, but the truck states I averaged 19.4 MPG on a trip to Florida last month (a lot of the time between 80-85 mpg).

I would guess that plus the lift doesn’t help any.

Nice MPG! How many miles do you have on it?

                      EDIT:
Ran the numbers with your MPG. If I was just basing the diesel decision on break even cost, it would take me nearly 400k miles for the extra up front to make sense! Don’t think I’ll have the truck quite that long.

How much lighter is the 7.3? It's all cast iron, I can't imagine there is much weight savings apart from the DPF gone.

I can't imagine anyone cares about mileage buying a truck like that LOL.
