Floyd’s is mostly a Cajun themed restaurant and has pretty darn good food in my opinion. Usually pretty nice portions too.
Tia Juanita’s is an interesting mix of Cajun and Mexican restaurant and with some dishes being both blended together like maybe a boudin quesadilla.
Longhorn is a good strakhousr. It isn’t Ruth’s Chris but at less than hakf the price, it is pretty consistent.
If you don’t want to stick with just the usual steak, Mexican, Cajun places, you might try Chaba Thai (maybe my favorite restaurant but I like southeast Asian cuisine) or Sweet Basil for Vietnamese.
Vautrot’s is a highly recommended Cajun and seafood place but I have never eaten there. I have heard from a lot of people that love it however.
It is the same with Taz for Indian cuisine. I cook some Indian dishes and keep wanting to try it but I never have. I have talk to people that like it.
I live about 15 minutes from Beaumont and except for Taz and Vautrot’s, I have been to all of the above places several times. Unfortunately I have not been to any of them this year since all this covid stuff has started. I am hoping that they are all still open and have not changed in their quality.
Ditto on Tia's and Floyd's. Just down the road in Port Neches is The Neches River Wheelhouse. Good food, great atmosphere outside by the river and good drinks. They had a lot of good live music too, before this covid scam.

We love Chaba’s! Been asking the wife for a couple days now to get some yellow curry and some pad.

In my mind I was thinking Beaumont but I forgot about the Wheelhouse which is only 15 or 20 minutes away. I have some friends that come in once or twice a year to fish from Missouri and that is a go to place for them. The Wheelhouse has a great mix of food and an interesting atmosphere being on the Neches River and watching the huge oil tankers and cargo ships going by.
All of the above are great, my favorite for good home cooking is republic chicken. They cook just like grandma, if that tells you anything. (Should tell you everything)

My mother has been gone for about three years now but about five years ago she had what they thought was a stroke. It turned out to be a very severe seizure…
About 24 hours into it she began coming out of it slowly. Many friends and relatives were gathered in her room and we’re asking her questions about who her kids were, what was her husband’s name, where she lived etc. And if she did not get it right, they would then tell her the answers. I had been bow hunting in South Texas by the time time I got to the hospital, she was in her partial recovery.
So I wanted to ask her something other than our names. I asked, Mom what is your favorite restaurant. She said with a big smile... Chaba!! Then I asked what is your favorite food. Pad Kee Mao!!

I started to mention Republic and forgot about it. I have not been since my mother passed away but hoping that they are still open and have great food. Also a Rockin’ A café mentioned above is a great place for cafeteria type food like roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, different kinds of beans etc. They always pack in the crowds. I have only been for lunch so I’m not sure how late they stay open.
I know for Italian food many people like to go to Carraba’s but I forgot about New York Pizza and Pasta. I have only been to the downtown location.
These places have really good food. They should still be open.
