Tractor guys - help with hydraulics issue

To my GS brethren who have experience with tractors and hydraulics.
I’ve got a John Deere 5065e tractor with front end loader.
This morning after a couple hours of work the bucket tilt on my front end loader stopped tilting up and down. The tilt would operate very slowly - but with very limited range. The front end loader still lifted and lowered normally.

I checked hydraulic fluid level and it was in safe range so I topped it off. Still wouldn’t tilt.

I bought a hydraulic filter today and will install it plus clean the hydraulic screen on Monday.

Any ideas or suggestions on what else to try if that doesn’t fix it?

Bad hydraulic tilt valve? Check the hose connections at the remotes for the tilt.

Probably that filter but mine ( smaller kioti ) will quit working if the three point connection is down in back the front will be slow or stop working all together.

Maybe blew a seal in the cylinder piston. Loader control valve messing up. Does it have quick disconnects for the loader hyd hoses, like to remove the loader from the tractor? If so could have one messed up

I by no means an expert, but I have heard of air getting into the cylinder. There should be a bleeder valve on the cylinder that can be unscrewed to release the air. It usually doesn't quit working completely though, just slows the movement down. Be careful if you do this because is can cause quick movement of the cylinder and implement.

you got slop in the joystick?

if it is not tight your direction control valve spools wont move the normal travel. inspect the stick mounts on the valve. you may see bent bolts

Hopefully it is just a valve. When mine did that it was because of a piece of a planetary gear breaking off in the rear end. The piece of metal traveled through the hydraulic system and plugged something it shouldn't have. The tractor only had maybe three hundred hours on it at the time. They asked if I wanted to scrap it or try to find the problem. Several thousand dollars worth of searching later, we found the problem and fixed it. Noting like paying half the cost of a tractor to fix slow hydraulics. The transmission, jack shaft, and loader hydraulics all share the same pump and reservoir. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Hydraulic shavings in the spool valve

Check the cable that runs from the joystick to the valve. Have someone move it back and forth while you follow it to the valve. Should be under the cab on right side. If it working properly it then ot maybe in the valve. The cable breaking or damage is pretty common and a simple fix

I'm assuming you have a detachable loader. Check the quick disconnects on the hoses. I had a limb or something hit one of mine and it popped it open but still looked connected. It acted the same way you're describing.

No joystick operates as smoothly as ever.

This^^^ I've had a quick disconnect that was not in fully (and not out fully either) and thus didn't realize it was not connected properly. Similar symptoms, so check your connections fully.

Haven't owned a JD in lots if years. Check your operators manual looking for a hydraulic cut off valve. My daughters LS has one under the seat between your legs.
