I have deleted my PM’s and text messages, so I don’t remember who I got this free bow from.

A gentleman shipped me this free bow for my boy.

I got him a 14$ release and got him working on his form. I need to check his draw length and check his eye dominance, he’s wanting to open his left eye and doesn’t understand the peep sight.

Any tips would be great. I got started with bows later in life and didn’t learn as a young man so it’s hard trying to teach him the fundamentals.

I will keep this a ongoing thread, my goal is to get him totally shooting on his own and to kill something by bow season.

good on you for getting him started in archery. Good on whomever sent you the bow.

I think the draw length is too long. I always like the string touching end of my nose.

Also...please...don't draw a bow back without an arrow on it. Dry fires ain't no fun.

Take him to a bow shop and they will help you/him out immensely.

Love to see the young’uns drawing a bow! Both eyes open is fine - most people shoot that way. He will catch on to the peep eventually

there are several methods to test eye dominance. google can give you good info on that. If he is opposite eye dominance. will need to get a different bow. I am left eye dominant and shoot a bow right handed. But at 62, I ain't changing

I see that the bow draw length is adjustable with an allen head drive. Shorten it a couple inches and see if that helps.

Balloons on the target is always fun for the kids.

Thanks for all the responses. I got it pounded in his head to never touch the release trigger until ready to shoot, and to never , ever dry fire.
