I Know Octoberfest is Octoberfest but I don't think you have to wait for it to have an epic time in Germany. When we went last year we ended up at The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl built in 1589 in Munich and it was a blast. It is open seating at giant tables and you can hang out as long as you want. People come and go and you never know what country they will be from. We spent 4 hours there one evening and then came back for a couple of hours the following afternoon. We sat with people from Austria, Italy, Belgium, and different parts of Germany. It's fantastic beer, food, music, and culture

In 2016, 2017, and 2018. It's a great time; the food, beer, and carnival rides are amazing (maybe not in that order). They even have family nights so you can bring the kiddos out in a safer environment.
But contrary to popular belief, Oktoberfest isn't a month-long puke fest. But it is awesome!

Like most said - it's fantastic. I have been multiple times. Different tents for different experiences. Different weekends for different groups. They parade through town opening morning with kegs of beer and allow people to get a sip or two as you walk along the "float". I have a buddy that's been 18 years in a row. Get's all dolled up in the lederhosen and felt hat. As also mentioned, great beer houses to go to as well when not at the Fest. English Gardens (their Central Park) and recommend Mike's Bike Tour if the weather cooperates and they are open. Depending on how many days you might need a break. Make sure you get the right train pass. Not knowing or not buying the correct one is not an excuse and they will not let it slide. You can buy one at the Munich airport and they will get you the right one. Don't use cabs. Train in from the airport. Trains are really good over there. Do not get trapped waiting for this thing - Rathaus-Glockenspiel. Fell free to PM with any questions you might have.

Never did Octoberfest, but San Fermin/ running of the Bulls in Pamplona is a blast
Planning a couple of years in advance is mandatory unless you don’t mind crashing in the city parks, during the day, all the partying is at night and last till the running is over
“” A first rocket is set off at 8 a.m. to alert the runners that the corral gate is open. A second rocket signals that all six bulls have been released. The third and fourth rockets are signals that all of the herd has entered the bullring and its corral respectively, marking the end of the event . The average duration between the first rocket and the end of the encierro is two minutes, 30 seconds. “”
They will not let you run if you are to drunk LOL
Viva saint Fermín
