Gmg grill/smoker upgrades

I ventured into the pellet grill side yesterday with a gmg daniel boone prime plus. Iv saw the down flow that bolts onto the chimney side and I'm going to build a slide in top rack but what else is out there for upgrades??

Got a little of the top slide out shelf built this evening, didnt feel like digging out the expanded metal so itll have to wait. Shelf is 24x16

Got the expanded metal, stops, and a pull on. Got to season it now.

top shelf is 24x16 and 7 inches above the bottom rack. Should be plenty of room for pork butts and whole chickens.

I want to build a top rack for mine Daniel Boone . I don’t understand the down draft . Why won’t just choking the chimney down instead? Basically all your are doing with the down draft kit .

well it essentially moves the chimney hole down to grate level instead of way up high like it is. It supposed to help it maintain temp better and while holding in more heat it allows it to be more even temps across the chamber. While doing all of that it saves on pellet usage.

Edit: Choking down the chimney will reduce draft, the down flow is still open to full draft it just changes where the heat/smoke enter the chimney at.
