We have a trip booked for the end of this month in Harrison Arkansas. Map shows it to be around 564 miles and we plan on leaving early in the morning and driving straight thru. 32’ TT that weighs around 9,000lbs
This will be the furthest trip with this trailer and about the max that I want to go in one day.

Take the three days. We're retired and travel a lot. We generally spend 5 to 6 hours on the road including stops. It sure is a lot more relaxing. It's about 1200 miles o where we go in Florida and used to do it with just one over night stop. Forget that, at least two nights now and some times three nights. Not in any hurry, so why not enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the replies.
We've done it a couple it a couple of ways now. Typically I try to keep it under 500 miles each day and prefer to keep it below 400 each day. I try to stop every 150-180 miles so roughly 3 hours at a time before we stop for gas/bathroom breaks. A lot of times we'll start early and hit the road at 5am. The 3 hour drive/gas/break is around 8am. We try to find an ihop or something similar and stop so kids wake up and have breakfast. They don't realize they have been in the car for 3 hours and are usually good for 6 more hours. I like to be setting up at the next park around 2-3pm so I can have camper set up and a fire started in time to put something on the grill for dinner.
We've done it 3 different ways:
a. 2 nights / 3 days of driving. Back to back to back days
b. 1 night / 2 days of driving long distance
c. Couple of nights each stop. 1 day drive, 2 nights, 1 day drive, 2 nights, 1 day drive so take 5 days to get there.
My wife prefers b but then I do all the driving and she naps, reads, facebook, etc. while I'm driving. We tend to do a most of the time though. This time I'm planning on the way there to do a but on the way back will do an extended version of c. It could be 4-5 different stops, with 1-3 days for each stop before hitting the road again. Probably going to take 10-14 days on the return trip home checking out places along the way or detouring to other things that look interesting along the way. I bought a good wifi antenna for the camper so can work from anywhere right now, might as well make the trip enjoyable for the kids.Last edited by BigL; 07-05-2020, 08:40 PM.

Might as well get out and see the country for a little while since I'm told to work remotely until further notice. I bought an antenna and router for inside the camper. Makes it so I can work from inside the camper and pick up a good signal.

Used to drive back and forth from TX to FL pretty regularly, it was right at 1000 miles, towing a good bit of the time.
If you don’t typically go to bed early, the best thing I found was to leave around 5 and drive until I got too tired, usually around 1 or 2 in the morning. This puts a big dent in the trip without wasting a day, and shouldn’t be too miserable with kids.
I’d wake up at sunrise and knock the rest of the trip out, I feel fine on 4 hours of sleep until at least late in the afternoon. With kids I’d probably just ride until they got cranky, then stop for an hour at breakfast, let them run around, etc. Hopedully by the time they wake up from afternoon naps you’d be getting close.
There’s no reason to push too hard, but I find anything over 5-6 hours in the car just as miserable as 8+, so I’d rather suffer for fewer days.
