House Build Question

I see lots of people doing builds here lately. I put my house on the market recently and it looks like I have a offer that I will accept.

Im going to by a couple more acres and build. Im not interested in a big place. The reason Im selling my current house is because its just too big for just me. (Divorced 2 years ago). Anyway. Ive seen the barndos on here. Whats going to be more pocket friendly to build, A barndo with 12-1500 sq living quarters (2 bed/2 bath) and 1000' shop or a wood frame house with detached shop. Pro's and Con's of each? Ill be paying cash out of pocket if that matters.

Do you think it can be done with $160k? (build only, not land)

We built a 40x80x16 barndo. 1600 sq ft of living and 1600 sq ft of shop. The living area is 2 stories, so there's more to it than that. Our all in cost, with well, septic, gravel driveway, concrete, and building ... then we did all the interior build-out ourselves was around $150,000. If you search my threads, there's one with pictures of the whole thing.

Barndo will be the less expensive. It can be done for $160k
