One of my old roommates was a trainer for years.
When his clients were approaching their weight loss goal, he would ask them this race is almost over, what's going to be your next race/goal? Motivation to keep them going living a healthier lifestyle.
It could something as simple as running a 5/10K, Ride 20-50 miles on a bike, swim a mile, get to X amount of body fat.
The ones that took him up on the next challenge always managed to keep the weight off & lose more, those that didn't usually disappeared from the gym only to come back months later in bad shape again.
