    Best Safe For Scoped Rifles....go!

Looking to replace my safe. I’ve found that the U-shaped barrel slots are worthless for holding scoped rifles (I know capacity depends on how many shotguns vs rifles). I’ve been checking out the browning safes with the modular interiors and I like their parallel high capacity gun racks. Was wondering what the opinion was on storing a lot of scoped rifles. Last time I counted I was holding just shy of 30 guns and about half of them are scoped rifles.

I just bought a Liberty USA 48 and hated the racks it came with. I replaced them with 3 of the U-shaped Browning Axis racks.

You can’t use the middle position in the back any way that I’ve found, so you’re left with a 30 gun capacity, but they can almost all be scoped rifles, and it’s easy to get guns in and out.

Did you install the axis shelving rails for the racks to hook into?

No, the interior is split 1/3, 2/3 with a vertical divider and top shelf. One of those Axis racks fit perfectly on the small side using the original clips. On the other side I screwed two of them to a 1” wide wood block with an angled shelf bracket under it. That made it rigid enough to sit on the factory clips also.

Years ago I took the racks out of my safe. Some guns are barrel up, some are barrel down. This was the only way I could figure to get more in there.

I like the layout of the higher end Browning safes. With the modular rack system and the door storage it seems like a solid choice for someone with a lot of scoped rifles.

Bighorn also makes a neat option with their swing out rack system.
