I’ve noticed a few growing in the last couple of weeks but they’re late and really small. Normally they’d be this size in mid- to late June.

Swamp chestnuts are sometimes called "cow oaks". The acorns are so big that cows love to eat them.

Do deer eat cow oaks? I have sat under them many times and never seen a deer eat an acorn.

Probably should just dart him now and put him in a pen. That's the way its done now I guess. I'm gonna go down to Johnnys lease and dart some of his so I can bring them home.. Works fine in Coryell co.

I’ve had a date with this cat for the last couple of years and I’m hoping this year I can get it done.

He had the makings of a drop in 17 and a nice drop in 18 with the makings of a double drop. 2019 his left side went crazy in the above pick with a really nice drop on the right side that you can’t see in the pic.

I’ve got pictures of him since shortly after I moved from North Carolina to Baton Rouge in 2011. I’m thinking I’ve been running cameras since 2012 or 2013. Without looking through all my pics he’s at least 8.

Yes they do. Swamp chestnuts/cow oaks are in the white oak family and deer love the acorns.
