    Need some tree advice

Had some small trees in the yard when I moved into the new house about a year and a half ago. Some kind of oak I think.
Recently it started splitting Vertically around the trunk and some leaves have yellow spots. Is this cause for alarm? And if so any suggestions? Thanks fellas

Are all the leaves spotting like that? You might spray with soapy water to kill any insects eating on the leaves.

Its looks like the bark is splitting. That can when it's over fertilized and the inside grows faster than than the bark. The leaves looks like its leaf spot and needs a fungicide treatment.

most likely a (young) Mexican White Oak

bark should not be an issue especially if you have had drier seasons recently and then a lot of recent rain

leaf spots are harder to say what it for sure (specific disease), but should not be an issue with some drier weather and any common spray for fungus/bacteria should clean it up if needed

            Ok thanks fellas.
Are the fungicides like a multi purpose kind of thing or do I need to figure out exactly what the spots are and get a specific product to treat?

You should be able to get Banner Maxx. Won't be cheap. It's a systemic fungicide that provides a broad spectrum disease control.
