    Back from Colorado

Left Sunday around 1400 for Durango, CO. Was riding shotgun while my buddy drove. Women were in the back seat. It was a fun road trip there. Lots of laughs.

After stopping for fuel, food, rest room breaks, and sight seeing, we finally got there around 1000. Stayed at an AirBnB in the Rafter J subdivision.

We checked in, and unpacked. Passed by Nighthorse Lake and thought we should check it out. Hiked to the dam and visited with a few folks fishing. Sure wish I had taken a rod. Left and drove into town. Walked near the fish hatchery/ library area and enjoyed the views of the river, old train tracks, and resident mule deer.
Ate at the 11th St cafe (I think) couple of food trucks in one area. Sushi truck is pretty dang good, tacos were not bad.

Tuesday we ate breakfast at the house, and went towards Purgatory. Ended up hiking about 9 miles through some beautiful country. Also drove around the area through the resort. Went to Sig Creek I believe.

Wednesday we drove to Pagosa Springs and rented some ATV’s. Spent the better part of the day riding around the San Juan National Forest. After that, we went and enjoyed the evening at the Hot Springs.

Thursday we went back to Night Horse Lake and rented kayaks. The water was cold and beautiful. Should have gotten a throw down rod at Walmart to have tried to catch a fish. Left there and had a rafting trip booked. Mountain Water Rafting is who we used. Our guide was Mike, think they called him Spicy Mike. He was a hoot and we had a really good time. Went and had dinner at a Mexican restaurant and the food was delicious!!!

Friday we slept in. The girls had a zip line trip booked there just outside of town. Us fellas didn’t quite meet the weight requirement. Haha. While they did that, we went back to 11th St and had more sushi, went to atv/ UTV dealers. Buddy ended up getting a CFMoto Sport UTV. Not sure of exact mode. He saw it and test drove it over there, came back and went to Katy to buy one. Kept hearing folks talk about the million $ highway. It was worth the trip!!! Absolutely Beautiful scenery. Very sketchy driving from Ouaray back to Durang at night, but we made it back!

Saturday, we slept I. And got back on the road home. Ended up taking a longer route that took us towards some sand dunes. Don’t recall the name. What I do know is that between Trinidad and the Texas line, I saw a ton of Pronghorn! Tons of them!!!

HWY 550 (Million Dollar) from Ouray back to Durango is awesome. If you think it’s sketch at night, add in some heavy snowfall at night and it’ll make you pucker up in a couple of those steep tight turns. I love that road.

We've got a trip planned to Silverton Via New Mexico later this summer, hope to have as much fun as it sounds like you had.

Glad you had a nice trip and made it out before the fires. It’s getting a little Smokey around here.
