    Ticket from Game Warden Question

Just curious on how to handle a ticket from a game warden. My son received a ticket for a watercraft violation and was told to appear on a date at the JP in that district. They have no record of the ticket and it’s a month old. He was informed to return next week to see if it was turned in to the office.

How long should this go on?

If it’s a paper ticket, until it physically arrives at the court.

He didn’t get a copy of the summons/ticket?

Last one I got, which was dismissed , was like that.

JP's clerk told me the GW usually turns in all his tickets at once and to check back in in XX days.

Yes, he did. They made a copy but they can’t do anything until the GW turns it in to their office. They told him to check in every other day to follow up. My point is when is it enough? I know if I take over a month to turn my paperwork in, somebody’s in trouble.

No kidding, the boat ramp they use is less than a mile from the JP office.

Hmmm...I would appear on that date. No game warden, no case.

From what I've seen expected of law breakers here on tbh is to just turn over your wallet over to the JP, buy the GW's kids their shoes for the next two years & take out a front page add asking for forgiveness and public flogging of your son...that may keep the internet shaming down for a week or two, but would check the expiration on your fire extinguishers just in case!!

There is a two year statute of limitation on Class C tickets, so he could potentially have that long to file the complaint with the court, but normally it should be filed well before the appearance date that was given. If the court doesn't have the complaint there is nothing to dismiss even if your son appears on the listed date.

Keep checking back with the court and keep good records on who was spoken to for future recall as most courts dont have any record that the court was contacted unless there is a complaint on file.

Its possible that the warden was deployed for riot control somewhere before he had a chance to get the case filed. It is very frustrating and probably needs to be addressed by his supervisor.
