First off, are you sure it is a vine? While it doesn't look exactly like most poison ivy, there are definite similarities. There is an app called Seek that is pretty useful for identifying plants and animals. If it doesn't identify it to the specific species, usually it will at least get you to the right family where you can spend a little time on google to find out exactly what it is.
I thought it was a subspecies of poison ivy or poison oak. Now I know. Cow Itch Vine...Genus Cissus.
Our vines smell very nutty when cut or disturbed. It trails on top of the ground or bushes as opposed to poison ivy roots/stems just below or at soil level. Cow Itch really prefers to trail and drape along the tops of elbow bush on my property. I never really see it go up trees...at least very far.
