    Filson gear, worth the money?

My wife presented me with an early Father day gift as it will be useful for an upcoming trip we are going on.

I love the look of Filson stuff but it has always struck me as crazy expensive "Ill be honest, I'm also extremely cheap".

I'm very excited about the gift but in general, how has everyone's experience been with Filson's products are they worth the money?

I have always heard nothing but praises about their gear but have never ponied up the cash myself. I did visit their store in Seattle and was impressed with all of their stuff.

You are right their products are crazy expensive but they are very high quality. I don't have any of their clothes or boots but I have both their dove belt and their upland game bag with the built-in suspenders that I use for quail/pheasant hunting. I've had them for 10 years and they will last the rest of my life and probably be handed down after that. I also gave both my sons a Filson duffle as graduation presents. Definitely a "buy once, cry once" deal for me.

I have a game vest/bag and jacket. I bought either used or on sale. Great products. Buy once, cry once I guess. Will definitely last a lifetime.

Its high but one thing about it you know its good quality. You can buy the new FAD for about the same price and its nothing but china junk.

So yes it is well worth it i have the bird vest, some pants and a jacket and they have all been great. The more you use them the better they get.

Well made stuff. Wool cruiser is my go to winter coat. I have a tin cloth jacket that is also very nice.
The oil finish tin cloth wears like iron and takes a while to break in. Dry finish is easier to break in.
I have found some great deals on ebay for Filson stuff.
They have some nice featherweight shirts and heavier winter wear as well.

Can’t go wrong with it. I have some upland gear and bird bags from them. Have had it all for well over 10 years and only seems to get better with age.

I’m too cheap to spend the money on it but I’ve got a Filson shirt that belonged to my Grandpa that I still wear. It’s at least 50 years old.

I have a cap and vest. When it is cold, they are worth the money- very warm and help to break cold wind.

Wear my vest a lot with jeans or casual pants- it has a nice "dressy" appeal.

My wife also bought me a Filson as a gift. Wool vest with no collar. I was a little bent about cost also. On year 5 now. Wear it all the time throughout winter. Love it! No problems. Keep it and wear it. Life is short.
