Alaska brown bear archery hunt (pic heavy) recap
We used the dry river to travel from camp to hunting areas and started off each hunt with a lengthy hike over some ankle busting rocks. We camp across a river from the hunting areas to keep down on scent and noise. We inflated a pack raft to cross the river near a spot we would target. That was a hair raiser. Two grown men with full gear in that little blow up raft crossing a fast water river. Made worse when my guide Jim tells me, “if you go in, make sure you float down feet first”. Secured the raft and stalked into a stand near a well used bear crossing on a salmon stream that had a ton of sign. https://youtu.be/PjLSzRjK6Q0
We got to the stand at 2 pm. I didn’t bring enough warm clothes with me to the stand and had to call the hunt at 11 pm. This southern guy was not ready for the wind coming through that pass. We saw 7 black bears and no browns. First day a bust. https://youtu.be/DU7yEXika4o

I spent 8 nights in the treestand last year hunting with Jonah and it definitely gets cold at night with the air coming down out of the mountains even though it is hot in the day time. I wore all the insulation layers I brought and I was still cold. It was a great hunt and I hope you killed big!
