Some of you may or may not know, but the new home we bought outside of Rogers, TX has a loft that we decided would make a great man cave/trophy room. Big problem! It has a spiral staircase and about 14'-15' to the opening, AND I have 3 BIG full body mounts (Lioness + huge base, Nyala + base and a Bushbuck + base and floor pedestals of my Gemsbock, Kudu, Eland and Red Stag plus big, heavy mounts like my Elk, Blue Wildedeest and Waterbuck.
Solution, I rented a "pusharound" electric lift and hired to guys from a local moving company. The lift was not easy to get up my front steps and into the house, but we did it. The 2 guys that we hired were amazing! We have everything in the loft (most need to be hung, but that is another time and story). The hardest lifting and moving was the base to the lioness. It was heavy and about 34" wide by 96" long! Unfortunately the wife was too nervous to take any pics or video of the lioness base going up!
Ben was on the lift holding the mounts and working the lift. The platform was very small so balancing the mount and missing the stairs going up was tricky. Nick and I were on the stairs and getting hold of the mount as it came up and transferring it from the lift across the stair railings and into the loft without breaking anything, falling or letting the mount slip and fall. None of this happened and everything is safely in the loft. What a rush to finally have everything upstairs. Glad we did not have to carry mounts up the spiral staircase. Not sure if it could have be safely done!
