Midnight on Baffin

Went to coast for my birthday weekend to fish with friends.

Thursday afternoon plan was to wade fish Goose Island before the rest of the group showed.
The park was open but the island was closed for bridge repairs.
Plan B had us behind the airport and we ran into legendary TBH'r Les and his son.
After my brush with greatness I knew right then, it was going to be a great weekend.

Friday evening we opted to wade Baffin under that giant full moon.
I've wade fished quite a bit, but never at night.



Best part, just before midnight I hooked a beautiful 37" Bull Red.
Drag washers, knot tying and my buddies ability to shuffle out of the way when I couldn't turn her, all got tested.
My first oversized Red.



If you haven't wade fished at night, put it on the list.

That's a eerie feeling out there in the dark isn't it? I haven't fished in the dark, but we park the boat and wade to gig. I hate the walk back to the boat after the tide has been pulling in for an hour or two...

Yessir, topwater fishin' at night is pretty awesome too! always try to line up with the moon so I can throw where my cast/return is in the reflection of the moon so I can see my lure... Awesome to have a topwater blow up like that whether you actually stick the fish or not!

What will really get your attention while wade fishing at night is when a porpoise slips up beside you, you feel the surge of water on your legs when it moves its tail then blows air...yea that will get your heart thumping!
