    Wild grape?

First of all, this is a grape vine, right? Second of all, any guesses on id? Based on pictures I’ve looked at it doesn’t look like mustang to me. This is east Texas.

I read once that there are over 50 varieties of wild grapes in Texas. Maybe it's one of them.

That is indeed a lot. Think the hogs eat them?

Absolutely! I use grape cool--aid in my hog corn where I hunt, (along with a couple more preferred ingredients). Cause it is also a natural forage in that area (river bottom). Deer love them too! As do most mammals. You can sometimes find them still dropping in early Oct. So look for them on the ground. And you'll prob find deer sign there too (if there's deer in the area.

Thanks, good to know. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more.

The lease is loaded with dewberries too, but not where I hunt. Was thinking about trying to transplant some berries (and maybe grape) to my area as a longer-term play.

I eat 'em... and make jelly. I live on Mustang Prairie. It ain't called that because of horses.
