Update on my knee.

Good luck with the shot. Glad it is working for you.
I just returned from my Dr's office from getting a Cortizone shot in my left knee.
It will last me a few months. Rooster Comb shots may be next for you.

I'm on my feet here in the shop pretty much 8 hrs a day 6 days a week. I mow my own yard with a walk behind and fairly active. I can't kneel down too good, but I don't need to very often.

Is this the shot that they do 1 shot a week for 3 weeks?? My knee Dr said that was next for me. Glad to hear its working for you..

This was a one and done. Doc just told me to holler if it goes to hurtin too bad again.

Glad it worked for you. The cortisone shots worked for me at first but they ended up ruining my knees I got both of them replaced a couple years ago and my knees have not felt this good in years

The doc tried cortisone, but it made no change in the pain.

If you dont mind me asking what kind of knee pain and what was the procedure? My knees kill me on a daily basis.

My left knee is just at the point of being bone on bone. The pain finally got bad enough to put me on crutches. The procedure is an injection of some kind of gel ( I forget the name of it ) to cushion the knee joint again. Just be prepared, it hurt like a mutha even after "deadening" it first.

So you got the Rooster Comb injection. Hyaluronic acid. For me it really helped for a while.

Why is It Called a “Rooster Comb Injection?”

Doctors realized that cartilage in the combs of roosters – the red, fleshy flap of skin found on the crown of male chickens – contained a high concentration of hyaluronan, or hyaluronic acid. These combs proved plentiful, since they were thrown out when the birds were processed for consumption.

By the early ’40s, doctors discovered how to extract and purify that hyaluronan from rooster combs, and by the ‘70s, they started injecting it into the arthritic knees of racehorses to ease joint pain. The the gel shots are lasting my wife a little over 8 months.
Then she has to take steroid shots until our insurance will approve the gel again.

She is ready for a new knee but she ain’t old enough yet for it.

My wife's right knee is bone on bone and collapsing inward. She has had 3 Synvisc shots over the last several years. The first one helped her a lot. The second one helped some after about a week of severe pain. This last one crippled her for about a week and has not helped much at all. We are scheduling knee replacement surgery for later this year. Several orthopedic surgeons have told her to wait as long as she can stand it. The time has come for surgery. BTW....Those Synvisc shots are about $900.00 a pop.

Synvisc (hylan G-F 20) is similar to the fluid that surrounds the joints in your body. Synvisc is used to treat knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. Synvisc is usually given after other arthritis medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.

Synvisc is what I got. I seriously don't think I will make as long as the doc said for a replacement.
