    Towing set up question

Bought a lifted Dodge Ram 2500....6" lift on 35s

Towing a large 43' open range camper about 16k #.....

Of course I need to pull it level...

Here is the question.. would yall go with a B&W drop in companion hitch or a gooseneck adapter ball....

I am thinking the companion would sit too high and the pin box on the camper wouldnt make up for the difference.....

    Thoughts ?

An RV forum might have better info and more guys with your set up. I follow forest river forums, but there are forums for every type of camper out there.

Check the springs under the trailer. I can swap shackle holes and raise my trailer if needed.

You can also possibly flip the trailer axles to the bottom of the springs if not already setup that way and gain 3 or so inches.

The companion hitch does allow for adjustability, but you’ll want to maintain at least 4+”, 6 or so being ideal , between the bed rails and the camper. The RV hitch has some adjustability as well.
Lifting the camper is sometimes an option. My axle is already riding below the leafs, so I went with 16” wheels and taller tires to gain some height.

On a side note, I was at South Llano state park a few years ago and saw a lifted dodge backed up to a nice sized 5er and I walked over to it to see how he pulled it off. Not very well was the answer, he had two big dents in his bed rails where his trailer had made contact with his truck.

I hope you have better luck at it than he did.

Flat ground is one thing, getting in and out of parking lots with the inclined driveways is another.

Man 6” seems like a lot for 35’s.

Wheel width makes a huge difference.. with wheels that stick out you have to go to smaller tire. 37's would easily fit on skinny wheels, but may not be the case for his set up

I’ve ran the B&W flip over set up for years. With my newest truck (2018 Superduty) it came with the Ford gooseneck prep already installed. I was a little iffy about it at first but so far I’m a fan! I don’t ever pull 5th wheels, but I’ve been pulling goosenecks like crazy lately with a level kit and 37s. So far so good!

I’m the opposite. Can’t wait to go back to B&W!
