Good place to crab and flounder around Port A

We normally stay in the Surfside area, and like to go crabbing and look for flounder in Christmas/Drum bay but this year with some last minute changes we will be staying at Port Royal in Port Aransas. Are there any good places to go in the area? Safe to leave a vehicle for a few hours at night? I'll scout it out on the aerial imagery in the meantime. Thanks, AA

I’d go along the causeway between Aransas Pass and Port A if on foot. (the north east side of the causeway first). There are a lot of stone crabs on the southeast side around the oyster reefs.

Tagged for info. Will be a little further south in North Padre though. Close to Bob Hall Pier. I have never done it before though.
