    Best Saltwater Jig Head

What brand do you guys have the best luck with trout or red fishing? I'm tired of never being able to find them when I need them, so I'm about to buy some in bulk. I've been a fan of the Bass Assassin jig heads, but I can't find any in bulk that aren't colored. I don't mind a chartreuse one, but I prefer just plain ole lead with the red eyes.

I use Hogie jig heads with gamakatsu hooks with the spring.

Good sharp hooks right out of the package and the spring lock holds the plastics a lot better than the heads with the barbs.

Never used them. I've had bad luck with similar designs tearing up the plastics and only getting a couple fish from one bait because the jig head was tearing it up. Same with the thread on jig heads. Not a big fan, but I look on Down South's website, and their jig heads are all thread on type, so I'm wondering if its time to try those again.

            X3 on this one.

The only time I'll sometimes use the ones without the springs is on smaller baits like grubs, etc.

That’s all I use. When the tip of the lures tears up I bite the end off and screw it back on and keep fishing. The type of lure you use has a lot to do with it tearing up. Down South Lures don’t tear up too bad, Hogies like are pretty hard baits and stand up real well.

I lost interest in the spring type when I was throwing Norton and Bass Assassins. I still keep some of those Nortons around, but I typically keep the Down Souths at hand now days. I may have to give the springs another shot.

I mainly throw DLS’s and it it not uncommon to catch 10+ trout on the same worm with that jig head

The screw lock are the only way to go IMO. I fish mostly down south lures and sometimes never have to replace my soft plastic or readjust it on the jig head.
