Yep!!! My buddy in South Dakota has about 4500ac and leases some more. He runs 600+ momma cows and farms corn, Milo and beans. His most important crop is pheasants. He calls his place the farm.

It's just like the term Cowboy.....
lot's of folks say they are cowboys or they cowboy for a living. There aren't really very many if at all any REAL cowboys left in this world by my definition of the cowboy's of the late 1800's early 1900's.
I own 8 horses, cattle, sheep, own property and work our family's large several dozen section ranch, but I no way in any shape, form or fashion would every call my self a cowboy.

IMO a ranch has livestock but to each their own, which is plenty acceptable as well. I say call it whatever makes you happy. But when you hear me calling a Ford Ranger a Monster truck, don't question it...
Webster Definition of ranch (Entry 1 of 2)
1: a large farm for raising horses, beef cattle, or sheep

Don't really care either way. Seems where I grew up in SE TX, many large tracks were just referred to as farms. Considering much of it was rice farming country back in the day, I guess that made some sense.
With that said, I've seen plenty of people buy 10-15 acres and a 30 HP tractor and try to claim ag exemption on just about anything they could. I've never considered any of those places farms or ranches and those folks sure the heck weren't trying to make a living off the land.

Personally I could care less what people call the land they are paying for. We have 2.5 acres and call it "the property". My FIL has 30 acres and he also refers to his a "my property"
We've talked about getting a ranch. Something to hand down to our kids and for me that has to be a minimum of 100 acres.
